Disney Emoji Blitz
Game Production Intern
Match 3 Mobile Game
Roles and Responsibilities
As a game production intern on Disney Emoji Blitz, I worked with the production leads to prepare the game’s January and February content. I shadowed the team for their development, polish, and quality assurance sprints. My graduate program focused on console development so it was fun to learn how mobile games are developed. Disney owns different IPs with their own approval processes so I learned how the team works with Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm to best represent their creations.
I assisted Senior Project Manager Alex Beckers by setting up sprints and creating polish tickets into Jira. Associate Producer Sarah Pak taught me how to create iOS and Google Play store tickets for the game. I also worked with Sarah on routing art assets for approval from Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. In addition, I worked with Natasha Mercer on updating documentation in Google Suite and organizing the product backlog. My work helped the team hit their quality bar in a timely manner and reduced turnaround time between the internal team and the external team.
I worked with my fellow Jam City intern, Francesca Palamara, on a side project for the Frozen Adventures team. Our goal was to reorganize the team’s Confluence page without drastically changing how the developers search for information. We found that the best solution was to add drop down macros to the home page. We were able to move over three hundred pages into the appropriate sub categories.
In addition, I worked with Jam City marketing intern, Julia Shen, to write a script for a YouTube video. The purpose of the video was to explain strategies for beginning players. We researched common frequently asked questions through the game’s reddit and social media pages. You can check it out here.
